I'll start by saying this item won't be scrapped :)

Just want to verify/confirm/validate that, for once, my feeble brain has identified this as French and the maker is Louis-Jaques Berger.

    Rooster mark: 1798-1807.

I can't figure out the other three marks!

    Thank you!

@bosko69 I don't necessarily specialize in silver--or anything, really. I like to consider myself a "jack-of-all-antiques" type person. I know just enough about many different things to be able to get myself in trouble ;)

That being said, I do lean towards silver more than other antiques.

The mark with the face of a man, is the guarantee mark (poinçon de garantie). The numbers aren't clear in the pic. If it's 85, then it's the Paris mark, and if it's 25, then it's the mark of the department Eure Evreux.

The Greek female mark, with number 1 on the right side, is the 1794-1797 mark of the Association of Silver/Goldsmiths, but this mark is not a good indication of date of manufacture, as it was used for up to 50 years after 1794-97.

And I have no idea what that last mark is, because ...

that was the only information I couldn't "steal" from https://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=57629 and https://www.silvercollection.it/frenchhallmarks.html to pretend that I know anything about silver :D

Based on the sites I mentioned, your brain is in good working order.

@Marote thank you! it's good to know that my mind is not as feeble as my wife/children/brother/cousins/friends/neighbors/nieces/neighbors tell me so.

I think this would describe the majority of folks that hang out on this forum. :D:D

We see what other members buy & learn just enough to possibly spot it in the wild sometime in the future.:smuggrin:
