9 piece dinnerware

Any info about this nine piece dinnerware (Syracuse China Vitreous O.P.Co.) is appreciated.

Hi Stanzerl - Syracuse China has a Wikipedia entry which will provide you with a pretty comprehensive history of the pottery.
These dishes would fall under the definition of "american whiteware." Production date would probably fall into the 1894-1914 time frame. This company used a coding system that could provide a more exact date but I can't see the date symbol well enough to tell. Someone may be along who knows their system better than I do.

- 67 or 87 (?)
- 49 (?)
- 67
- 89 or 68 (?)
- 12, 18 or 19 (?)
- 30
- 43
- 3 (?)

It looks like some are decorated with gold color and some are not. Would this mean the set was put together later? I mean, that somebody bought older ones and had them as a set? I have some items that are like that.

 

According to Lehner's this was the first mark used by Syracuse. I found her information a bit confusing. She references Barber's marks and another source and both have different dates, 1888 and 1890 as the first year of use. It was used into the early 1900s.

 

Forgot to mention that I was referring to the round mark.

 

The plain O. P. CO. mark was filed for registration in 1914 so the dishes were made in different time periods.
