I have these 'plates' that are about 12" around. They have raised scenes on them. THey were from my wife's grandmother's mothers sister. (grandmother's aunt). The grandmother was born in 1910 so they are quite old. Looking for any information about these. Cant find anything on Google. Thanks in advance,

OMG!!! I was talking about my Gammy's stuff this morning! I think I have some but can't tell you squat about them.
My Uncle was Merchant Marine in convoys in WWII :p , and after, and he probably brought them to her as gifts.

    WELLLLLLLLLL! ! !
Just because granny was born in 1910, does not mean she couldn't have bought them in the 1940s or 50s.

Which would make these plates just a few years older than me.
And I Certainly DO NOT consider my self Quite Old.

Amen to that. I think they are from the 1950s.

    Hi,
These young whippersnappers.. Every time I heard people say something is old from the 50s I go whatttttttttttttt? Then I remember that the 50s was 60 years ago.
    God, do I feel old.

Then when I think that something 50 years old when I was born dates that "something" from the early 1890s! :(

Gee, I hadn't thought about that. My father was also, barely, my mother wasn't.

Hi Tom_G - I was able to turn up a few of these on eBay's UK site. They are plaster plates which were cold-painted hence the flaking. One of the plates on eBay UK is dated from the early 1950's so that fits the time frame mentioned above. I found them by searching "plaster plate wall hanging" in google.

My parents were depression babies so I guess that makes me one of the young whippersnappers :woot:!

I agree with 40s-50s on these, and my dear cuban Grandmother was the last of the Victorians as well. Till the day she died ,women who dressed provocatively appalled her ! She was unwavering in her sense of propriety,it kept us ALL on our toes. I still miss her dreadfully .

My parents were 10 years younger than the grandmother mentioned above, so I guess they were Flapper babies.

Great job finding those, Don. I finally came up with some Bossons, but that's it--probably didn't hit on the right keywords.
