Thoughts on painting & help with artist?

I found this at a local thrift store today - one of the first paintings I've seen in a while that I liked. It looks like one of those guys with a painted face, who don't talk, but act out everything - from trying to find a way around a glass wall to mimicking trying to carry a heavy load. (I want to say marionette but I'm pretty sure that's not it.
Any thoughts on it and/or help with the artist's name would be greatly appreciated!

 

Signature looks like "Oné cy" or Qné cy" to my eye.

I think Mime is the word your looking for.

 

I kind of like this. Newer painting in a mix of older styles. Has a bit of a WPA feel to it but more fauvist in execution.
