Featured Brooch, silver. Strange attachment of stones.

Agree, an old one, the excellent last back pics confirm the silver mount is finely made.

I took some more photos in daylight. The glass didn't stand the test of time The yellow hook is not gold, more like brass.

 

Georgian and later paste was almost always silver set for at least the mounts, it shows it off far better. That’s even if the rest of the thing was gold.

as I always say, think candlelight. The whole point of these pieces was to look wonderful and to show craft.

 

DO NOT REPLACE THOSE STONES OR I WILL BE VERY CROSS!

Honestly, leave it be, you’ll destroy it.

Yup. Oxidized gold too. Both turn up.
