Fake Murano Scavo Wall Vase or Table Vase?

Picked this up at a thrift store. First, I know it looks like there is a chip and crack in the glass on the top front rim, but it is a clear fold in the glass. I found the below listing stating it is a Scavo Murano, but don't know how to proof it one way or the other, as I know from experience all claims are not true. Notice in the last photo, the gray paint on the vase around the handle. Are Murano or high dollar art glass pieces painted? Your thoughts please. It measures 10 1/2 inches at the tallest corner by 4 inches across the back.

Scavo is a technique for emulating Roman ancient glass, Murano has many many makers. I think this is a modern piece.

 

Thank you so much ownedbybear. Does Murano still emulate the Scavo technique? If it is a "real" Scavo Murano, would that mean it had to be old to be valuable?

 

Many glass makers use the scavo technique, not just those based on the island of Murano. And no, it doesn’t have to be old, but good quality and by a decent maker.
