Any thoughts on the origin of this large ribbon textile with embroidery and applique work please?

Are you in the US? The big Hmong migration was in the 1980s-1990s. Lots of their handicrafts to be found then when they were new immigrants.

Not really. I've seen similar that had to be Chinese. Since it was made for sale, and from the colors, I'd think less than 40 years. Early 2000s???? It seems to already be framed and ready to hang over a scarf collection.

 

I also think it is more recent than the mass migration. The colours don't look traditional to me. Beautiful piece though.

 

Found in a Reuse Shop in Hertfordshire. I like it a lot. I think it may be a bit older than this century from the frame back, maybe seventies. Brits travel!

 

Looks newer to me too.
