Featured 2 thrift paintings

Hi folks

found these 2 in a thrift in town the other auction day.

thought they were just home goods decor at first, but think they might be a bit better

only £3 each, only one is signed but gotta be from the same artist

haven't had any luck with the sig, but don't know if i'm reading it right

like i mentioned they were only cheap, but are growing on me a bit

not quite sure what to call them ?

looks like the paint has been applied with some kind of tool

i think amateur but guess you never know with this kind of thing

any thoughts or info appreciated

 

The names, Mikaela Tratat and George Pictat (pictat = painted?), look Romanian to me, although I thought the Romanian spelling of George is Gheorghe.

Yes, it sounds like Romanian names, but it looks like there is a game of words and meanings. Pictat means "painted by" and Tratat means "treated by", so it might be not the real surnames. Also I think it is written MiHaela (this is how they write it in Romanian), and with George a bit confusing, because Romanins write this name as GHeorgHe.

However I can see there are some initials written in the lower right corner of the paintings (one in white "VD"?, another one in red that I can't read)?

I'm not an export in paintings, but for me it looks like some studio pieces.

never noticed the initials on the front, even more confusion as one says V.D and other i think VAjA

 

I like the round one......... looks like car tail light.....

 

yeah i prefer that one to buddy, look like its been done with an artexing tool

 

In the original image, the round image looked like a RADAR screen.

 

The round image made it look to me like a stove burner. Oh well. LOL
