I found this stunning dragon's breath brooch in the thrift yesterday.
There are no markings, and Google search can't find any exact matches.
Does anyone recognize the style or maker?
It's for my personal collection. I can't wait to wear it on my coat!

    Spectacular brooch, stracci.:)
Can't help with the maker, but with that boomerang pin back I would say 1950s. Our American costume joolies will probably know the (US) maker.

Thanks for the time frame, Any.
I never saw dragon's breath in the wild before, so I was beyond thrilled!

Just for those of us curious about what "dragon's breath" is -

Where is Dragon’s Breath Opal From?

While organic opals are mined from beneath the Earth’s surface, Dragon’s Breath Opal is created entirely in a lab. The stones are manufactured to look opalescent and mimic the qualities of natural stones.

These stones were first created in the early years of the 20th century, when a boom in production of Dragon’s breath pieces occured. Dragon’s Breath is made by adding molten metal to Czech glass to generate a fiery colored stone. However, Dragon’s Breath will never have foil as a backing for the stone. That is one way to differentiate between Dragon’s Breath glass and similar colored synthetic stones.

Definitely American. Originals by Robert did some dragon's breath in that era, but this is prong-set. I'd just cheerfully, indeed gleefully, wear it!

    Thanks everyone!
I paid $18, which is much more than I usually pay, because I'm a real tightwad. But I knew that I'd regret not grabbing it.
I acquired a few other goodies from the same shop which I'll post in the "Finds" thread.

I couldn't agree more! I have bought things I shouldn't have, but it's the things I should have bought but didn't that haunt me

That was a grab and run piece, as long as the price wasn't crazy.

Check Juliana D&E. I've been out of the costume market for many years but seem to recall identification had to do with the soldering on the back.

That would be figure 8 puddling which I don't see on the back. I don't think it's Juliana, but it is sweet :)

I'm not seeing D&E either; they rarely used a V back like that, if ever, in addition to the missing figure 8s and blobby back.
