Will take better photos in the morning.
Not sure if "pressed" is the right term. The piece seems to have been blown in a mold.
Any idea of the maker? Something is supposed to go on the top?
    Thanks

If it is mold blown you should not have a smooth interior but one that mimics the design. The bottom looks like a "cut shut" technique used for items that are pressed upside down. Look like a syrup or molasses without its cover.

I suspect you are correct in that it should have a lid. The bare area at the top of the handle likely had a metal hinge/clasp there.
Looks formed to me as well.

Thanks. I got confused because I thought it was a pontil mark.

    No, I'm sorry.
As formed I meant by hand.

By the way, the piece is about 8 1/2" tall so unlikely for syrup.
