Silver and concave mother of pearl. Diameter 40 mm. thickness 8 mm. I can't read the hallmark.

 

Made in NZ (for New Zealand.) STG (for Sterling.) Perhaps RW is the maker's mark.

That's a fur clip, the double prongs are how fur clips are made

 

Seconded. Meant to be stuck into a fur coat or other heavy clothing.

 

Or a hat, too.

 

Surprisingly, I haven't found a similar brooch attachment.
