I bobbed over to Scarborough and Malton today. I didn't find too many things thankfully as my rucksack will weigh 1CWT on the way home otherwise.

This is one of the finds. Not sure if it's onyx or agate. Somd searches suggest jade but that would be wishful thinking I think.

Neither.;) Onyx is black. Mexican travertine is called onyx by some sellers, but that is a misnomer. I think this is Mexican travertine.

A chessboard here. Don't think anyone returns from México without a souvenir item made of ónix.

Mexico is the world's largest producer of silver, with historic mines in Zacatecas, Guanajuato, and Durango that have been operating for centuries and continue to yield large quantities of silver. The country also ranks highly in gold production, with notable mining areas in Sonora, Chihuahua, and Guerrero.

Italian sixties souvenir alabaster ashtray, part of a set. Matching cigarette box and match holders, often. My mother had one.

Could be. I'd expect it to be a bit more refined though if it were Italian.
