I saw this at a thrift store today and I had to have it (ive been good - I havent bought any art in a week+)!
It looks like a Chinese sorcerer(?) with a crystal ball and a child (or apprentice?)
There is no signature I can see, except 1 Chinese character - is that the artist?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
PS - I think it has some age because it has a glass front & a wood? back - it is heavier than expected to lift!
PS , 1st photo taken at thrift store when I tried to do an image search, 2nd taken at home inside.

No idea, but I bet there are some Fantasy lovers who would be all over it.

Love it J Mag-IMHO & just a guess,a 1920's-30's genre woodcut (?) of the classic inscrutable Chinese Sorcerer w/ a young apprentice.Almost looks like an intaglio print (raised surfaces),but maybe just extremely thick medium. Maybe printed on fabric, but could also be paper.
You might remove it from that period frame and examine it closer.
PS-I'd have it examined by a trustworthy gallery before you put it in your eternal constant garage sale .
PSS-Now that I look at it again, with that thickness of pigment-it might also be a painting, think Tempera or Gouache (?). It has a batik vibe re it's design.

I thought it was a painting, but I don't know tempera or gouache - so might be time to find a gallery & ask!

Here's a close up, especially around kid's hat - in person it sparkles?
    Thanks again for any help!

Hahaa oh no @bosko69 is putting me on the spot.

Those close ups are really helpful. You can see a weave pattern, and the paint fill. The lines are very blobby so look like painting done from a squeeze bottle onto fabric. I'd say a take on velvet painting. The style of the figures and the technique make me think around 70s for time period. But on all of this I'm using context clues. I don't know of other direct examples.

Looks like the outlines are made using gutta percha, an Indonesian latex-like tree sap. You can get it in tubes in various colours, including that gold. And as mirana said, you squeeze it onto the fabric.
Gutta percha is used both in silk painting and batik. After painting you can iron it off like batik wax, but you can also leave it on to get the effect of coloured ridges.

Thanks @mirana (sorry !), but you've got a good eye & knowledge base.
Ditto Mirana-Closeup looks like 'homemade' squeeze bottle hobby piece on fabric.
Ditto @Any Jewelry - Poss Batik
    Ditto @charlie cheswick - Fabric
PS- Journey those closeups really helped, pretty essential when making remote art evaluations (short of hiring a Psychic). Keep on swingin' amigo.

Btw, the child's crown looks Javanese-inspired, rather than Chinese.
It is an Asian fantasy, most likely painted in the West.
