    Hello,

I have acquired a collection of approximately 1,000 prints by an artist named L. van Gent. There are around 30 different designs, primarily depicting scenes from Eindhoven and a few from the Assen area in the Netherlands. I believe these prints were produced in the late 20th or early 21st century. While I don't consider them 'fine art', I am curious about their background, potential value, and the best avenues for selling them, considering the large quantity and duplicates.

    More of L. van Gent:

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. What would you do if you want to sell such a collection?

    Thank you!

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

imo...... I would not sell them as a lot.
if u parse them out , several at a time , one of each design.... I feel you would achieve the best value , & profit...

    :jawdrop: That many!
They mostly have local appeal. If it were anywhere else I would say a local auction house, but we have none left.:( I believe the closest one is in Den Bosch, so you could try there. And as komo said, sets with one of each subject.

There is one L. van Gent listing on Marktplaats. The seller says pen and ink, but it is obviously an etching/print:

No asking price, and no bids yet. It has been up since Feb 6.

This is the auction house in Den Bosch:

I don't know much about them, have never used them either as seller or as buyer.

Thanks for your advice! Maybe my neighbor will sell them on King’s Day. That is a massive flea market here in April.

Indeed they are not worth much in bulk. Maybe when I keep them scarce.

I wonder if your dating should be much earlier, maybe 1940s-50s.
They are signed by the artist. On the site you linked, it says that Cornelis (Cees) le Mair painted his version of L. van Gent's view of the Markt in Eindhoven. I used to know Cees, he must be in his 80s now. He is said to have made this version of the L. van Gent print "long ago".
Also, the Markt looks very different on the print than it did in the late 20th or early 21st century.

On the print of the Markt I just noticed the distinctive bulb turret of 'De Olifant', which used to be located on the corner of the Markt and the Hermanus Boexstraat.
De Olifant was demolished in 1956:

Yes, but I expect my prints are made after earlier postcards(?).

I do not know Cees Le Mair personally but as teenager I passed his house daily (de Bokt), cycling from Breugel.

So they aren't signed and numbered in pencil?
I have been to his house in Bokt, but I first met him when he lived in Geldrop with the luthier who called himself da Montagne (real name v.d. Heuvel). Cees organized music sessions every friday night, which was the weekly event for the young folk of Geldrop, of which I was one.;)
Cees moved out when da Montagne showed too much interest in Cees' then wife.;)
