Im an avid player online but Ive never seen the board game. This was a thrift find but it looks incomplete to me. Can anyone give any insight into its age, complete or incomplete, is it even worth the time and effort to sell in my store? I only uploaded 1 photo, if more is needed let me know. IMG_2814.jpg

There appears to be a date on the cover of the Mah Jongg pamphlet. I believe it reads 1979? A photograph of the exterior case would be helpful.

Looks complete. Looks like a relatively modern (70s) set. Made of plastic, and imitating those sets made from bone & bamboo, which are significantly older.

Is it worth anything? Frankly...no. The sets which are worth anything are the antique ones, in good condition.

Bone and bamboo ones, luxury ones, VERY early plastic ones (we're talking 1930s, 40s, 50s), ones made of precious materials (I have seen one set made of Mother-of-Pearl, for example).

Sets like these tend to sit. If you do sell it - take the first offer, or you could be stuck with it for years. The people that do buy them don't like to spend a lot of money on them.

Anything else you like to know?

Thank you for all the info on this set. I knew it wasn't antique, but I thought it was worth a try. I mostly stay out getting old games because of missing pieces. There was also an old German Monopoly game, but unfortunately someone wrote English all over the cards so I left it.

Idk why all the eBay links are doing that now. If no changes have been made on this site, then it's eBay that's blocking or having bad code. Which is dumb because sharing gets sales lol.

The link is getting wrapped in tracker codes. You have to edit the url out of them, and if it's relinked they get added back on. Copy paste the text is best I've got.

    I see it now.

Yes, it looks like the same set, although I seriously question whether it's bakelite. It looks more like melamine to me. Bakelite sets are more of a custardy, carroty colour.

There are also Catalin sets, which are a bit more opaque, but that's not what we got here.

Melamine would indicate the set's a more modern manufacture.

Donate it to a senior center if you don't want to sell it. My friend plays almost every day at her center and they don't care if it is old or new as long as it has all the pieces.
