I remember my parents buying this at an auction in the 1970s, but don't know what they paid. My dad re-worked it so mom could use it as a cabinet. I've been told it would have been more valuable with the radio still in it even if it didn't work. But back then, mom was more interested in storing her glass and china.

These quite often get converted so not the end of the world. There is probably a greater supply than demand for the old radios anyway.

The design for the cabinet could go either way anyway, even without any conversion.

It's 1927-30. Radio cabinet design changed rapidly year over year. The cabinet industry was huge. Generic ones have limited value . . a neat relic of a bygone era. When the design gets interesting and quality workmanship top notch, cabinets can be nice. My 1932 Majestic with back-lit glass panels. [IMG]

Would have had an important place in a well-appointed home.
