Featured Any thoughts or information on dog head bottle stopper?

Hi all,
I found this cool dog head bottle stopper at my regular thrift store today.
It was on a bottle a worker found that it didn't belong to, so I left it and just bought the stopper.
I can't see any maker's marks on it, but since I'm a dog lover I bought it anyway!
Can anyone tell me anything about it?
Google image search turned up dog head stoppers, but none like mine & none with a glass stopper.
Is it old?
Is it quality?
Was it made into a bottle stopper from something else (I saw a few dog head shot glasses - but they were called dog head stirrup?)
Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Beauty Whit ! You've given Us a virtual Ben Hur quantity of boffo pics,but is there the tiniest sliver of a chance you missed a stamp,hallmark,etc. ?
PS-Almost looks like a hood ornament,but nowhere to fasten to a base.

Interesting thing. I couldn’t find one similar with a glass stopper either. I wonder what type of bottle it would fit on. Especially with that broad circular base and the glass bit it also very short (looks impractical). Looks to be good quality (with some definite age but perhaps not antique I think) Is it solid and heavy? The closest thing I could find was a bottle opener. Your piece almost looks like a marriage
