I couldn't sell this when I moved and ended up bringing it to my new house. My parents paid $300 for it in 1975 from the owner of the house they bought. That would be over $1700 in today's money. I posted it on local selling sites for $300, but didn't even get one nibble, even when I reduced the price to $100.

These pics were taken at the old house:

Here it is in my new house:

The curse of brown furniture. Nobody wants it, even if it is better made than most modern stuff.

I had a set much like it in my student digs, it was given to me by my aunt.;)

Aah 70s does revival. If these are the sale photos you took, it helps to take store-like photos with nothing else on or near the items and as much light as possible.

I have an extra pull out couch from my inlaws that is the heaviest beast ever and it has an orange-ier version of fabric than yours. It's clean line mod style though so might fare better as "MCM" if we sold it. I used to hate it but I really enjoy it now and it's everyone's fav napping spot.

It is known couches are damn near impossible to sell. Everyone is afraid of bed bugs, usually the fabric isn't what they'd choose, and the foam is shot from use. So if you buy a second hand couch you expect to have to have it redone and many would rather buy a cheap and crappy new one.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the room area to do what you suggested. Even the armchairs are almost too heavy for me to move around easily.

I understand. I bought a piece of white muslin years ago to cover up things in my home that I couldn't move out of sale photos. It has the added effect of bouncing light. You can use sheets or table cloths. Everything in the shot becomes clutter to the eye and prevents people from imagining the pieces in their own homes.

Brown wood and brown upholstery is a tough sale here. In the old days, people setting up a new house or apartment bought what they could find cheap. Now, not so much.

I use a folding paneled room divider with a white sheet over it as a backdrop. Easy to store it out of the way when not needed. :)

Double dose of brown.. . a tough sell. If the wood finish was lighter and it very good condition, and it needs all new upholstery and not brown - the cost of that alone would exceed it's market value. For a do it yourselfer it would a interesting project.

    “If it’s brown, it’s down.”

Apparently that’s a saying among the production crew of antiques roadshow.

edit: yet I’m still surprised you didn’t get a hit at $100 from an ironic hipster at least.
