Grabbed a couple of these in Sale. They are lithographs but there's something about them. They have a sheeny gold finish on the accents. Google throws up a lot of results for Edouard Garnier. Not sure if these are original prints by him or more recent copies. The older prints tend to have that paper with small lines in them don't they? Phone number on the back is old Std code so pre 1995 at least.

I'd think those were 1980s and decorative.

I hope they're earlier but I wouldn't disagree with you.

There was a time when Chelsea House produced similar works - the owner was one of my clients a few years ago.

Here's the original source. You'll want to compare paper and measurements (if you haven't already.) And note that the original doesn't have the Sevres mark.

That's great thanks. If I could fathom when they started using the type of lithograph on my prints then I might be able to rule out if they are original. It wouldn't confirm it though. Just that it was possible. The inclusion of the sevres mark does suggest that they aren't the original ones. I could take them out the frames for more clues but don't like doing it. The measurements may be a great help too.

Just had a look. That's a pretty big book! The visible part of the print within the mount measures 37cm x 26cm, so I think it's possible. Still not definite though.

Cracked one open and it was relatively painless. It's a print of the original onto card. Bummer. I should have trusted my instinct with the lithograph dots.

This sort of thing was popular in the 50s so I might have thought it was earlier too.

Maybe. I might be able to get a more accurate age if I find out what period the printing company operated as 'Editions Porter' or when they operated from that address in Bath. They have since moved it seems. Shouldn't be too difficult. I'll have a look.

So do I. They are really good quality prints. I can see why someone had them framed.
