Can anyone make out this hallmark? When our servicemen served in Germany in WW2 and again in the Korean War, did they have these rings made in Germany? Ive not seen a US gold mark like this? IMG_3349.jpg IMG_3350.JPG IMG_3351.JPG

They very well may have bought items such as this in the PX and they could have been locally made.

I see some silver coming through just below the mark.

If anything, the mark looks Egyptian to me, but Egypt doesn't have marks for plated.

When we write 8 we usually put the fat circle on the bottom. I've flipped the image around. Maybe it's more recognizable this way.

    has the ring/gold been tested?
The fineness of gold in Germany usually comes in three grades, 333 (8k), 585 (14k) and 750 (18k), and very, very, rarely 900. The most common are 333 and 585.
By law the fineness of any precious metal has to be marked in thousandths and it is the only hallmark required. So if there is none of the above finness marks, then the ring is not from Germany.
