    Bought 9 glasses today

In the pic I added the cruet set I posted a few weeks ago, because only last night I discovered ...

    that it's UV reactive

They react to 365nm light. The larger glass on the right also reacts to 395nm light, but not as much as with 365nm. Does this mean it's manganese glass, and (therefore) antique?

    Hi @Marote

It makes a huge difference if you could shoot your photos looking straight on to the items rather than down on them, like this:

I didn't have enough space to take better pics :sorry:
I'll try to take a few better ones.

Still not great pics, but now the patterns and the glow are better visible ... I hope...

I really like the Schooner (pics 9 & 10) an' the Tumbler (pics 1 & 2)! They're my style; clean & simple vessels. Thanks!

nice pieces of glass Marote, they look antique to me:) I don't know if they make glasses with a needle etch design anymore, when I see them I always think old. I seem to think Manganese only reacts to a 365nm light, under a 395nm there is no glow (it has been a bit since I've thought about glowing glass, so I could be remembering this part incorrectly).
The large glass appears to glow brighter, which goes with it having uranium in it, the glow in glass with Manganese makes me think of Granny Smith apples, a lighter glow. Manganese is also in coloured glass and will glow different colours.

    the link below is interesting:)

    Needle etch ones look Edwardian.

    Thanks, y'all for the feedback/info :)

Here's a pic with the lights off

One piece of the cruet set, is much less uv reactive than the rest of the set

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Very pretty -- I know nothing about glowing glass, but wanted to mention that I like them.

    Thank you :)
And the collection will probably grow next weekend. Saw a few more pieces (decanters and bowls) today, but the owner of the store, who usually give me good discounts, wasn't in today. So, fingers crossed he'll be there next time I visit the store...and hope the pieces are still there...

I've got to remember to put my uv light in my thrift tools.... These are so fun!

Don't use the uv light in the kitchen, or else, instead of going to the thrift store, you'll be spending hours trying to clean your kitchen.:yuck:

My thrift kit is now my phone cam, 2 magnifying glasses, a magnet, ebay and google lens app on my phone, and 2 UV lights. :)

Hahaa I have a couple in my work kit. I usually take a loupe and mini measuring tape. Not much use for a magnet because no one sells any jewelry here... :shifty: ....but I do have one for that purpose, I just don't usually bother throwing it in my purse of the day lol.
