Antique dagger

Does anyone know where this is from based on the design?

 

it's a clip point Bowie...... but we'll need a close up of the handle , and the blade.
any marks on the blade that u can see ?

Size?
where did it come from?
Where R U ?

It could be a fine letter opener from Spain...... or something more...

so , the blade says it's a hunting knife.......and the medieval handle doesn't fit with that style of blade..?????

Hard to see in photograph but... If Mexican, wouldn't the helmeted figure represent a conquistador?

I'm not a weapons guy, but it looks like an artistic fantasy. Maybe it was made to please euro tourists?

 

Ditto-IMHO fantasy piece. I doubt an early 19th Cent street fighter or 17th Conquistador would carry this,I could be wrong.

 

Looks like a sort of fantasy piece, as that grip wouldn't give a very good grip on a knife for actual use.
As for the type of helmet on the pommel, this looks like it is a burgonet, which would have been used by the conquistadors, and came out in the early 1500's. Most people assume that theConquistadors would have used morions, but the burgonet was a far more efficient and easier to produce type of helmet, and was inuse right througout the sixteenth century.
