    Another purchase that arrived yesterday:

A wooden hair pin with a piece of quartz (?)

(Or is it a magic wand from a Slytherin wizzard? :D)

Be careful you don't start speaking in Parseltongue when you're wearing that.

I have had some truly eerie encounters with a python at the zoo that made me wonder about myself. I'd probably be in Ravenclaw with Luna.

Looks like a New Age wand to me.

I was the office manager at our local natural history museum for a while. I was also the "Snake Lady". We all pitched in to help with exhibits and I would walk around with the three foot long black snake letting kids pet her. :). Recently, I was at an event where they had a snake and I just had to ask to hold her. Kind of camouflaged by my jacket.

I like snakes too, and was always aware of which ones were dangerous, still remember when I was a teenager and my Mom asked me to identify the little snake she'd scooped into a jar with her garden trowel - pygmy rattler.

Agree that it looks like a New Age wand. Would question if the snake is carved wood - to my eye looks more like sculpted polymer clay, even appears to be a fingerprint by the quartz at top...

Seconded. Polymer clay snake; I've seen that technique used more than a few times. What kind of snake was that, Bev, besides pretty? I wouldn't mess with a rattler under any circumstances, but love anything that eats mice.
