I know a guy named Henry Guttman. I cannot honestly see him painting anything except a wall back when he was younger. :D

A few more to show. Some of the pictures are not the best, as I took them on the fly. All are thrift purchases and under $10.00. Some of the artists are unattributed but I have not really tried too hard to research them. Any help in doing so is appreciated.

This is a medium sized original oil pastel by MI artist Rita Mach Skoczen. It is framed under glass so the photo has some glare. I can find quite a bit of her work but no more in this series.

This is a large oil on canvas, framed under glass. It is signed Charles White. I can find at least one other painting that seems to be by the same artist but no attribution to a particular artist.

This is an oil on canvas by listed Chicago artist Ralph Samuel Clark. It is dated 1928. Inscription both back and front indicate that this is the Old Fine Art building from the Chicago Worlds Fair before renovations. Frame is quite a bit newer than the painting.

This is a charcoal drawing by Samuel S. Thorpe. Seems he is an artist from Maine.

This is a pair of drawings (inscribed with a stylus) on shelf mushrooms (Artist's conk). Both are signed C.G. and dated about a decade apart (late 20th century). I have always been partial to these and have a nice old one in my collection. Haven't decided if I will keep these as well.

This is a Swedish etching signed Theddy Skog (Jean Theodore Skoglund).

Here is a large watercolor signed T. Burton and dated 1968. I have not been able to attribute this.

haven't purchased this yet, but coming up for local auction this week. Was thinking of starting an art speculation painting thread, but hopefully ok here

just interesting looking, part of a 3 piece tryptych, so hard to judge without the other 2 pieces, think its works ok as one though

if i can get it for cheap enough i might have a go, no bids and a fiver at the mo

can't find any info on artist

theres another for same price as well

i read annie bullea for 1st, and rm andrew for second, can't find zilch though

The religious painting's decent, but the skull piece has been rendered by a skilled airbrush artist. 'The 13 Skulls' is pretty cosmic and may have hung in some kind of a metaphysical/new age church or lodge ?

These are interesting. I would probably buy them if not too much money. I generally don't buy art this new unless I can find the artist or they are dirt cheap. Hard saying what the up-side for them is without any information on the artists.

agree, i get a college/art student feel about the first one, but like it enough to have a go if its stays cheap. no bids or even a watcher yet so its not gonna fly

Signed WE. Volbrecht (Willy Volbrecht) dated 1994. Oil canvas. Must be local artist (couldn’t find anything info) Titled: Trio. Looks like a’ lovers triangle’ thing to me. Anyway I like it. The frame fits it well (I thought) What do you say? Amateur artist with some training? Thanks IMG_6830.jpeg IMG_6831.jpeg

I don't hate it but they all look a bit to close for comfort... LOL!

Possibly something dodgy going on :)
Was a equivalent of $1 so worth it for
    the frame alone.

I like the frame Boland-would that be a 'semi' Arts & Crafts era piece ?
