I probably asked this years ago, but sometimes there are new folks. This rubber stamp is a cartoon or comic strip character that reminds me of Gasoline Alley or one from that era.

I agree it looks like one of the characters except that I've had it much longer than that.

Small, I see. But what are the dimensions? And what does the back look like? Would/could you post a photograph?

No, it wasn't Rudy, it was the guy who looks like he's wearing a mop on his head. But I don't think it looks like him that much, just more than anything else I can remember.

It's much older than those cartoons. I've had it forever. I'm pretty sure it's from a 1930s-40s comic strip. I keep thinking something like Gasoline Alley. Maybe it's British. My parents had a second hand store and my mother just tucked away things that caught her eye. I never know what I'm going to find.

I agree with you on the old comic strip style but I can't remember any with this guy...yet.

When I first saw it, I thought of Gasoline Alley so I just went and googled the strip. I can't find a list of the characters with pictures but I did see one in a strip that looked right but the image was too small to see clearly. Slouchy cap and a striped shirt.
But, I was brought up a little short when I saw the name of one of the major characters: Skeezix.:(

You know... I'm trying to help you. One avenue of exploration is whether your stamp was part of a sold set or part of a premium set given away one stamp at a time. The quality of the backing is helpful in determining that. Another avenue of exploration is the size. A Google search for something like "vintage cartoon character stamp" and the dimensions might bring up other examples. A dime is not helpful.

I've used the word "rinkydink" before but had no idea where it came from! When I click on these links to ebay, I get a black screen.:(
