I got involved in a little sterling silver clean up the past few days. I had received a couple of new sterling cap bottles last week & I am trying to be better about documenting things as soon as I get them. I looked in my one little cabinet & was astonished as to how many I now had in my collection. I will post some group photos later in the Finds thread.:happy:

This one has been with me since 2012 & I never noticed the marks on the one end. It is 2 1/4" long & is 1/2" across. You would dab the perfume on by pressing the tip against your wrists or wherever. I can't get it apart to see what type of container it has to hold the perfume & did not want to force it.

It was sold as French & is badly marked on the inside "Made in France" & "Depose". After cleaning it up I noticed another mark inside. Is this the "head" mark everyone talks about when discussing French marks?

It still has some stubborn tarnish in the mark, but could the one on top be the "head" mark everyone talks about when discussing French marks? Also does anyone recognize the other mark? I can see a G & a P, but had no luck finding anything.

Gorgeous piece, Peggy. Love the colour.
No, it is the lozenge shaped maker's mark.;)

I love that color also!!:happy:

    The seller dated as "Deco".

There is a second mark on the end above what I am assuming is the maker's mark or is that part of the maker's mark?

Made in France, Copyrighted design. I think I"m seeing a boar's head silver mark on the end, or similar , with a maker's mark.

    Superb!
Hint: a lozenge shaped maker's mark in France is the clue for precious metals.
Plated ones are in square shape:cyclops:;)
Of course, agree with all that has been said above:joyful:
