Another one of those "couldn't sell it before moving" pieces, but found a use for it in my new house. It's a Bassett Federal style dresser with mirror (mirror is in excellent condition). Only one person came to look at it when I had it for sale for $100. She offered me $25 and said she was going to paint it with chalk paint. How can anyone ruin that beautiful wood with paint? Between that and the low-ball offer - no sale.

The 20th c. reproductions of Colonial furniture are just not in style. Another issue with much of the furniture made during this period, it has survived generations of previous owners and so much was produced. We simply have much more furniture then people.

I would have taken the $25, LOL. The other option is getting nothing for it when it's donated to a local thrift/charity.
Too many things going against it... brown, "old-fashioned" rather than trendy vintage, questionable condition, and it's a single piece and not part of a set.

I can't even donate that type of furniture now.
It gets broken up and recycled.

I don’t think those are selling even close to reasonably ‘well’ anywhere anymore as is. But if you paint it for that cottage style look it would definitely sell around here.

I sent photos of furniture to 3 local antique shops asking if they were interested. One answered and said my type of furniture isn't selling very well. I am still awaiting a reply from the other two.
