IMG_8285.jpeg IMG_8286.jpeg IMG_8289.jpeg IMG_8288.jpeg IMG_8287.jpeg Hi all,I didn’t buy this. But it’s an interesting thing. It is made of moulded plaster or some composite. It’s fairly big and heavy. Stands maybe a 90cm tall and 60cm across. The word ‘Nanook’ from the Inuit language? And date ‘71. It’s also signed EJD? So is this just some interesting garden wall hanging or something more? Anyone maybe heard of this artist. Thanks for any comments and keep well

Thanks for the opinion. I also like it and probably the only reason that I didn’t buy it was because I bought 3 paintings today. But I might go back for it tomorrow if I get the opportunity and have time..

The head reminds me of Quimbaya terracottas, from pre-Conquest Colombia.

I'm thinking it is a homemade fantasy piece - doesn't have any details reflecting Inuit or other native styles; and "Nanook" has been widely used as a generic "Eskimo" name, such as in the movie mentioned above. But it might look cool in a garden.

    Thanks for the comments all.
Someone put real effort into this some 50 years ago and it’s cool looking and unique thing. Thinking it’s a ‘once off’ piece so I will buy it anyway.
