Here's a 1930's stained glass shop sign from a Bakery or Confectioners in the area of Basel Switzerland. It's abt 9" by 12" and has chains for hanging,it's deeply etched & signed by the artist (pics).
It commemorates the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Basel Bakers & Confectioners Society dated 1935.
Any help on ID'ing the artist and or guild would be super helpful-thanks !

He was the real deal-probably apprenticed in the late 19th/early 20th century using traditional church/public building techniques. The authentic leading's neat and uniform as in a church window. The pieces are cut then assembled together with real lead & solder, the glass choice-etching,staining and design IMHO are excellent.
It's got a pre-war arts & crafts style to it.

This is fantastic. I really enjoy it. What amazing colors and the way he dealt with the light coming off the oven is sooo good.

Thanks-I think it's a keeper.I've never found a similar piece. I wonder if all the guild members hung one near their shop entrance-like a union sign at a restaurant or bar ?

Lovely thing. You can feel the glow from the oven. Can almost smell the bread. Nom

    That's a ton of work for a piece that's only 9" by 12". A real show-stopper.

Given the size of the piece, I would guess it was assembled using copper foil rather than lead came. The foil takes a solder bead over top to join the pieces. It's a technique frequently used for lamp shades, because the solder bead join is much less prominent when joining small pieces than even a narrow lead came would be.

Translation: 50th anniversary of the baker and confectioner association of Basel and surrounding area 1935. So 1885 to 1935! Very cool stained glass.

MOS-I think your right on the copper construction-the joins/joints are very clean.
I just contacted the Head of the Basel History Museum's Art Department (They curate the Stained Glass collection), and a fairly prominent graphic arts (original posters, vintage advertising) gallery in Basel.
We'll see what they say-there may still be a few on display in the city (who knows ?).
If it was my family's bakery I sure wouldn't have gotten rid of it !
The oldest surviving bakery still in business in Basel is from the 1760's-70's.
