IMG_8781.jpeg IMG_8779.jpeg IMG_8780.jpeg Hi all, this was basically free (because it is cracked I suppose) I found a similar item listed as a Edwardian ebony page turner or letter opener. Is that what it is? The monogram is sterling silver (I think) It’s 15cm in length. Any thoughts? Is this a proper/real monogram? (I can’t decipher it) At first I thought it is a much more recent item and the monogram was ‘made-up’ Thank you

Very nice, and the use of ebony could mean it was made in (South) Africa.
But it looks like a paper knife rather than a letter opener to me. Letter openers are thinner. Paper knives were used to cut book pages that weren't cut by the printer.

I thought that as well , because it's wood..... but at 15cm..... rather small for a page cutter....[IMG]

something like this is 15 1/2 inches.
