Help Identifying John Wanamaker Painting Artist

    Hi all,

Found this lovely old 23.5" x 20" John Wanamaker (I believe dogwood flowers) painting recently, but haven't come across anything on the artist. Appears to be F. Panaccion.

Wondering if anyone recognizes the artist and what some others think of the painting and the (sadly damaged) frame.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Think the surname might be "Panacionne" and I would think a decorative painting. Would/could you post a photograph of the back?

Perhaps just the canvas was sold at Wanamaker's Department Store?

It's probably irrelevant... but while I agree they look like dogwood blooms, it'd be unusual to make an arrangement of tree blossoms. Even more unusual to do so for a still-life painting.

Dogwood was a popular subject of floral paintings in the 1940s-1950s.

The store had an art gallery but I think the merchandise was decorative, as this appears to be.

Those long staples are usually on store pieces. It presents very nicely though.

As the others said, a decorative painting. But nicer than most.
