    IMG_0361.jpeg IMG_0360.jpeg IMG_0362.jpeg Hi all,not the typical African
stone carving I usually see. Image search firstly suggested possibly Inuit? But with the artist first name being ‘Peter’ I don’t think so. ‘Cyprian’ is however also not your typical surname for a African caver. I didn’t buy it yet (but I like it plenty so will probably buy it) It stands about 12cm. I couldn’t find any info on this artist. I would appreciate any comments or information on this artist. I do think it’s African. Thank you

    I don't think it's Inuit.

It's hard to get a perspective / understanding of its posture-- does he have a big belly, hands wrapped around it, sitting down, and looking straight up?

Thanks. I agree not Inuit. It’s exactly that, big round belly with hands wrapped and resting on the belly,in a squat sitting position with the head back and looking directly up.

Looks like it has facial scarification of a type seen in parts of Africa.
Could we see the back please?

I have never heard of a huge bare belly being part of the iconography of St. Cyprian of Carthage. I have always seen him fully clothed. And he is missing a book or scroll, which is part of the iconography.

Would the artist possibly have been named after the saint or could it be kind of a pen name ?

Cyprian as either a first name or a last name is not uncommon in some countries.
