How heavy is it in your hands? How flexible is the bowl (soft bend or very rigid)?

It has the look of a Tibetan Singing bowl. How does it sound when its struck?

Is this a mark, by any chance?

    Thankyou for looking :)
It’s slightly flexible. Quite difficult to describe but when I was polishing it I felt if I pushed too hard I could distort it. Held between my hands, a push will flex it. Definitely not very rigid. Weight wise, it feels like it would be robust enough to be a fruit bowl, it’s not lightweight like tin or aluminium but not weighted like iron. Again, tricky to describe weight!!

I’d assumed it was messy solder but I’ll look up close when I get home :)

    Great suggestion.
Funnily enough my OH suggested the same thing but I wasn’t sure if singing bowls would have an applied rim? I’ll give it a tap when I get home!

I think that rim would destroy the resonance. Besides the 'singing' effect is caused by gently going along the rim with the striker. If the rim doesn't resonate, it won't 'sing'.

Traditionally singing bowls were cast from seven sacred metals, but not all bowls are made like that anymore. But I think a thinly hammered silver bowl could be straying a bit too far from tradition.;)
