Hello! Picked up this cutie at auction, 4"H. I wanted to confirm that it is Limbach? Little Scottish bisque character "COME ON (or GN) MCDUFF", Made in Germany. It has a shamrock mark (or 3 leaf clover?) which is similar to Limbach but I can't find an example of the exact marking. He is marked P46. Appears to be from around the 1920s-unless he's a repro?!, good condition other than missing a little jeweled piece off his sporran. Thanks for any info!

Thanks for the links everyone! I have seen some of those, interesting the worthpoint link doesn't have the shamrock mark, wonder if that one might be a Japanese copy of a German one? Who knows!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The words on his chest are based on a line from Shakespeare's play Macbeth.
Looks like it is "Come on, Macduff, and damned be the one who first cries 'Stop -- no more!'" This is probably a modern interpretation of the quote -- I didn't try to find it in the original Shakespearean English.

You're right, it is a modern interpretation, the original is *lay on, MacDuff! And damned be him who first cries hold, enough!*
( Always have a bit of a lol to myself when people use it to mean lead the way, and change the word *lay* to *lead*. Macbeth doesn't come off very well after this incident) xx

Thank you, @BoudiccaJones ! It has been a while since I read the play, although am familiar with the general story.

    I absolutely love Macbeth.
