How to describe finish on Italy vase and age?

    Would you describe the finish as crackle. Is this what I saw someone call
    FRATELLI FANCIULLACCI? Would I be correct in dating 1950's 60's?

    I don't think 'crackle' would be correct.
    Knobby or maybe they were inspired by the 'spaghetti' poodles.

    definately not crackle, as crackle is a specific glaze that makes a fine pattern of cracks under the top-layer glaze.
    i dont know what to call this, it looks like someone cultivated the shrink-flaw some glazes can have. i remember back in arts and craft in school i failed to stir the glaze properly so it did something like this on the piece i made. someone must have looked at that and thought it could make for an interesting design. so, i would probably call it shrink glaze, but im sure there are some actual name for it :) but, just not crackle~

    BEADING GLAZE; BEADED GLAZE: A specialized controlled-crawl glaze designed to crack and crawl significantly during firing (due to extreme L.O.I. in glaze materials), and then melt into isolated beads on the surface.

    I think your estimate of 1960's plus or minus, is about right.

    Japanese ceramics have similar glaze that is called shark-skin but it is more dense.

    did see several similar pieces described as 'pebble lava' with similar markings but no maker
