Hello, I can't ascertain whether this brooch is made of glass or stone like jade. The material is transluscent. Any opinions most welcome. Many thanks!

If a natural stone, I would expect a more even polish. These areas make me think it is cast glass -

I've seen that exact rose before. It's cast something, and the texture on the front tells me it's glass. The setting is costume, so it's not likely to be stone anyway.

Hello everyone, many thanks for your comments, there is a definite consensus on glass! And yes, it is cold to the touch. It's a bit of a strange colour though, I was wondering then if it could be uranium glass (I don't have a UV light)?

Doubtful, but there's no harm in finding out.

A gem tester will answer your question, do you know anyone who has one? Or do you know a jeweler you can ask to test it?

UV lights are super cheap to pick up online and fun to use in future treasure hunting. :D I don't think this is uranium glass but it can't hurt to check.

I got mine for free at a yard sale. It's handheld but not a flashlight type, but for that price who argues!
