IMG_1642.jpeg IMG_1643.jpeg IMG_1641.jpeg IMG_1644.jpeg Hi all,I see brass ones every now and then but have never see a set like these. Found only a very few similar online (so I think these are not very common and are scarce) From what I read horse brasses were mainly popular from around 1900-1930’s (and are to a far lesser degree still being used today in ceremonies/festivals or special occasions) So I think these are maybe examples of the very first porcelain and ceramic disks. These are ceramic right? Total length is about 40cm. Does anyone have any knowledge regarding these? Do they date from around early 1900’s? Thanks for any comments

Thanks Charlie. I agree. I have never been tempted to buy the ‘usual’ ones before .

I love horse brasses! My grandfather used to collect them, and I have a few, too.
You may have already found this info but...
THIS site has one of yours but says nothing about it. Perhaps you can contact them for more info.
Check out ebay item 182889823646 for an unmounted set of 6 like yours for an eye-popping price.
There's a HORSE BRASS COLLECTORS SOCIETY on Facebook that may be helpful.

Thanks for the reply and help. I did see that listing and also the one example on that website (but yes the info was very limited) I didn’t know about the group on Facebook. Iam sure they will know more or would know who to ask.

I bought a horse brass in an antique mall years ago when we visited England. You don't see them here in the States. I knew it wasn't old because brass is the same anywhere and you can tell by the quality of the mold. Not seeing them in person, I can't be certain, but yours look original. Nicely mounted, too.
