    Hello-
Found this 9" vase yesterday. Loved the curdled green on green glossy glaze. Believe the form to be Chinese (inspired?) but haven't a clue as to maker or origin. Anybody have a thought? Thanks in advance. DSCN9501.JPG DSCN9502.JPG DSCN9503.JPG DSCN9504.JPG

Agree. If I am correct this shape would count as a 'gu'.

Base doesn't look Chinese. Interesting glaze.

Amaco is another art glaze company but their glazes are a little less vibrant. There are also a number of smaller companies making art glazes and I would not rule out Chinese made, the glaze is unusual but there is such a vast number of ceramics and glazes across such a huge area a match is still out there someplace.

Try searching mottled green and black Chinese ceramic glaze, then substitute Amaco, Duncan, Coyote or just Art Glaze for “Chinese” and see if you find a match. It’s a really beautiful glaze… I’m sure it would have been used a lot and that effect is more difficult to do than you would think I’m sure many potters would like to have the recipe myself included.

I agree, it doesn't, but then you never know with modern stuff. The inspiration for the shape is a Chinese gu, but the vase could have been made elsewhere.
