So I mentioned royalty commemorative ware in the forum of things that don't sell a few months ago. I rarely touch it nowadays but I was intrigued by this. It's hand painted (although not to Royal Worcester fruit bowl standards) by a Mr Michael Minoprio. He has a mention here and there on the www. but hardly a household name. It makes me question how one website puts a valuation of $2400CAD on an item decorated by him.

Still, maybe I have pulled a stunning move out of the bag and scored a winner. Sadly, I doubt it but you can live in hope.

    (I like the gold bits)

I sincerely doubt the value that the seller put on the one in the link, but I think that there is good quality here and handpainted which almost always lifts value. However, being limited edition (and it doesn't say how many in the edition) always gives me pause. I do think this is good quality, though, and for someone who collects commemoratives, they might part with a few pounds.

Thank you. I hope you're right. Maybe someone's been sat waiting for me to list it for years and is ready to pounce. I was wondering how many mugs in the series have #1 on them too.

It’s a pretty looking thing. That asking price does seem very high (but I have really no clue) Hope you do very well with it!

I don't know. There are a couple of cups by Muniprio on eBay.fr for around £80. About the only yard stick I could see.

I listed it and within a couple of minutes someone had made an offer for £78, then bid the start bid of £49.99 then pm'd me asking if I'd accept £105 then sent me another pm with mobile phone number written on a piece of paper. Obviously desperate. They said that they were a collector and their lack of feedback as a seller would support that. I gave it two hours and no more desperate people threw themselves at my feet so I accepted their offer.

I really don't know though. I just had visions of the auction counting down to zero and ending at £49.99. wouldn't be the first time :(

A tough decision-when I was an Ebay baby 25 years ago (and fiercely broke), got a PM offer of $300 for a piece I'd suspect would top at $50-immediately said 'YES'-feeling mighty good ! Couple hours later an offer of 1K came thru-well **** !
Back in those days there wasn't as much 'shilly-shally' on Ebay.We newbies figured when you got negged, you were cooked, not a lot of data or Seller Forums around back then.
I very sadly honored the $300 deal, doesn't hurt anymore, just a bit of scar tissue.

British friends, helpest thou my Yankee ignorance. Can this date to William's birth? His father was Prince of Wales then; William only became so with the ascension of his father to the throne. Is the immediate heir of the current POW also styled this way?

Very astute observation but upon further consultation, it appeareth not. Willy bobs was bestowed the title from birth it would seem. Which beggars the question, how many Princes of Wales could you have? Confused as you are.

Ah so, he was known as Prince William of Wales from birth, not 'The Prince of Wales'. I think.

I know it's not the chief concern but... it does make me feel good when I know the item is going to someone who collects it and will be over the moon to have it. Maybe it's the fellow collector in me.

I once sold a vintage doll where someone made an offer for several hundred for it. I furiously went back through all my research and couldn't find anything to suggest that this mass produced doll was any more desirable than any of the others which sold for much less. So I took the offer and vowed never to look it up again so I wouldn't be disappointed. :p Assuaged my fears knowing someone was really gonna love her...and I was certainly gonna love the cash.

Well, if you made a good profit on it, then I wouldn't overthink it. ;)
