Featured Falkenstein lamp

Please tell me I found a good one! Can't find any like it online. Lady swore it was from the '30s. It reads FALKENSTEIN 1086-5.

Sure it doesn't read Frankenstein? .... Pure 60s Hollywood Regency bordello. Likely Italian or made in the US with Italian parts. Somewhat similar to this lamp I saw in the Goodwill not too long ago. It has the shade you need. It was priced $80.00 and took quite awhile to sell. Probably sold when it went to half price.



For what it is worth, I think your lamp is better than this one in the right market. On the other hand, I would think not having a compatible shade makes it tough to sell.

I'm trying to figure out if these sections were meant to be painted black, or, are just oxidized.

I'm also wondering if I should re-cord it to make it functional again, or, leave it as-is. Someone cut the cord on it, so I'm guessing it fell victim to scrapper hell at some point

I am losing my mind trying to make sense of the finish on this thing. The lamp is basically brass, but it has traces of black on it that I'm not sure are paint, or, oxidation. The one I found online is black. So, I guess there's a chance that someone before me already removed the paint, but who knows.

I also can't believe someone would paint over brass!

 

Rewired and now a working lamp again!

 

So my wife has been cleaning this up today. I still love it, she still hates it, lol.

I am posting my latest pic of the lamp in here. Need to get a better shot, but this lamp just rocks. I keep telling my wife I'll have to hand in my man card for liking this lamp as much as I do. Who puts this level of detail into a lamp these days?? NOBODY.

 

If anyone runs across an old Falkenstein lamp ad, can you please share it? I'm trying specifically to get the address of where the lamp factory was in Philly, so I can go see the location.

 

Interesting that they weren't able to spell boudoir, but bordello came out perfectly.
