IMG_7104.jpeg IMG_7105.jpeg IMG_7106.jpeg IMG_7108.jpeg IMG_7107.jpeg Today I found these two pendants on a flea market. They were not dirt cheap but you all know my craze for 'Oud Vlaams' so I had to have them. You can tell they started life as a pair of earrings, no?
Finding a pair of these doesnt happen often.
They are silver, gold backs and 2 rose cut diamonds each. A bit simple with not that many diamonds, but almost fully original. There is really nothing wrong with them except for the gold hook on the top.
So, I think I might go for the easy option and just remove the gold hooks and replace them with some fish hooks.
The pair earrings next to them in the fourth picture is my only other set of complete earrings.
In the last picture you can see most of my Old Flemish -bits and pieces- earring hoard.
I m still looking for the mates of some single earrings-turned-pendants but because of their numerous differences...that might be a lost cause.
So...which earrings do you like best, and would you also go for the simple option to just add fish hooks?

:jawdrop: Wow, Dessert, so many Flemish beauties!:woot::woot::woot::happy:
Small differences don't matter much, they probably won't be noticed when you wear them.
    I would.:)

But I see a problem here.:pompous: You have way too many Flemish earrings. I would like to help you by relieving you of at least one pair.:shifty::joyful::kiss:

I think the problem is you have one pair too few for symmetry. Now you need to go find more, correct? Or maybe some coral ones, for contrast. We Americans see very few earrings of this sort, but I'm always willing to encourage another collector.

What a collection! I had a Flemish rose-cut diamond pendant once, long gone. For the mismates, would you consider wearing single ears? With an antique diamond stud on the other ear?

Evelyb thank you for your reply. I do have some coral earrings, but you just dont see coral/anything other than diamonds in Old Flemish jewelry.
Curioser, thanks for the suggestion. I think I would actually wear single earrings that way!
    Thats an excellent idea.
The single ones work really well as pendants so they got worn that way until now.
My problem is I have this obsession with 'original', so I ll just continue looking for the matching mate of the single ones.
Also value-wise a true matching pair is -I think- better than mismatched ones.
For now, I really enjoy the hunt.
    Thanks for looking everyone!

Coral jewellery is more a Dutch thing. The only part of Flanders that has coral jewellery is the Dutch region of Zeeuws Vlaanderen (Zeeland Flanders), which is influenced by the Dutch islands of Zeeland.
You'll find them.:) It could take years, but they are out there.

I'd be happy to find a single; they just don't turn up.
