Design on WWII Canteen Cover and Belt + Brass 4th Armored Division Whatsit

    Got a canteen cover and belt from WWII that both have this red and orange graphic on them. To me it kinda looks like a stylized canon design, with the letters GW at the bottom left. I looked at some field artillery patches and I noticed a lot had yellow/red/orange color schemes.

    Second piece is a brass cylinder with 4th Armored Division graphic and PGH (Piitsburgh?) Chapter on the top, and A-10 on the bottom. I guess it resembles some type of stamp, but doesn't seem quite right.

    Any ideas/thoughts are welcome. Thanks for looking.

    Huh, yeah, I can see that. Then maybe GW was the soldiers initials. Matches closer than anything else i've found so far. Thanks.

    He would have been part of the North African campaign, I'd assume.

    The metal piece has something to due with the 4th armored division.

    Google AI showing once again how useful it is.
    Googled for "pgh" "4th armoured division"
    And the AI result was:

    The "PGH" in the context of the 4th Armored Division likely refers to the "P" in the nickname "Breakthrough" (1954) and "P" in the unofficial nickname "Name Enough", which is short for "People's General Hospital". The 4th Armored Division was a US Army division that was active in World War II and later.

    :confused:

    With the answer being based on the 4th armoured division Wikipedia page, and a webpage with a text talking about the Philippine General Hospital

    :rolleyes::banghead:

    If it is the hand of Fatima, the GW might be an acronym for God Willing.

    Took the brass piece to the flea market this morning and showed it to a few military collectors and they had no clue either. It measures 1 inches in diameter and 1 1/8 inches tall. 131 grams.

    I wonder if that is an old challenge coin of sorts?
