I have bought this beautifull porcelain figure group. It is made by Luigi Fabris, see wikipedia. He has an impressive resume. It is 29 x 25 x 20 cm en 3986 grams heavy. Don't now the age and value, but have seen high prices. I love the scene it depicts, it says it all. Sure looks like it. Dad doesn't appear too happy about the situation.

or the both man are the lover of the woman and the older man is sort of the third wheel and has to cary the dog of the woman. And she is more interested in the young man. but the other theory sounds better.

Nice quality porcelain although not particularly fashionable at the moment.

I would guess it's an allegory about aging. A lovely wife leaving an older gentleman in pursuit of a handsome youth. Perhaps a warning to an older gentleman about taking a young pretty wife? But I have nothing against a good thruple. In cases like this I find myself worrying about what happens to the poor dog.

Really beautiful piece and fun scene.

Clearly it's just their very talkative dandy son. :playful:
