ABP? Anyone know the pattern or maker? Unsigned. I’m not good with this type of glass.

Came unexpectedly in a lot. Either a few pieces weren’t photographed, a porter made a mistake and put them with mine after auction, or I got a kindness. A nice piece of Tiffany & Co porcelain, this vase, a nice but basically worthless piece of Royal Worcester, and another glass piece I wasn’t expecting were in the table lot when I collected it. I can't see the details very well but it looks to me like it's grey cut (cut but not fully polished). As AI states it: "Grey cut glass refers to glass that has been decorated with incised designs, but the cuts are left unpolished or gray rather than being polished to a bright shine. This results in a frosted or grayish effect on the surface of the glass." Grey cut saves expense since it requires a lot less work. Often these vases are contemporary giftware and made in Continental Europe somewhere. Difficult to say more with a mark or a label. Lovely vase nonetheless.

thanks for that explanation. I always wondered about that.

  4. Not to say that it applies in this case, (I don't think it does) but occasionally these are pressed glass which has some of the detail cut over and left gray, perhaps giving the impression that the (not gray) part is cut and polished.
