I inherited an iridescent carnival glass bowl from my mother, which I always thought beautiful. I found several similar on the internet, called both “Imperial Glass Hobstar & Arches Marigold 1940s” & “Indiana Glass Sunset Stars Arches 1970s.” Mine cannot be 1970s because I saw it during the 1950s. I assume it dates from the 1940s or earlier. My parents married in 1941. Or the bowl could have been passed down by my paternal grandmother. All lived in northeastern Ohio (U.S.A.), where I first saw it. 9 inches diameter, 2 ½ inches high. Can anyone identify the manufacturer, pattern, date, and any other information? Thank you very much.] Carnival glass1 640ppi.jpg Carnival glass3 640ppi.jpg Carnival glass6 outside upsde dn 640.jpg Carnival glass7 outside upsde dn 640.jpg Carnival glass DET4 outside 640.jpg Carnival glass DET9 outside 640.jpg [/ATTACH] Carnival glass5 640ppi.jpg ATTACH] Carnival glass DET8 bottom 640ppi.jpg

Imperial Glass #505 Bellaire was introduced in crystal c1913, and is similar to Indiana Glass #123 Paneled Daisy and Fine Cut which was introduced c1910 in crystal. Both have been reissued multiple times in various colors including carnival.

you have the Imperial Glass #505 pattern. "R" lists this pattern as Daisy & Button:

for comparison "R" also has the Indiana Glass pattern, which was reissued as 'Heirloom':

Thank you so much, Tall Cakes! I had looked on Replacements & seen the Indiana Heirloom, but rejected that because the depicted bowl was a different shape. I went to EAPG but did not understand how to search when I did not know the pattern. I also thought that carnival glass (iridescence) would be later than EAPG.

This just shows how a knowledgable person can really help!

I wonder if there is any way of narrowing down the date of my bowl--when the iridesence was introduced maybe.

The kind people at Antiquers have helped me ID family pieces & some may be older than I thought. Thank you again.

unfortunately it's difficult to determine specific dates considering the multiple reissue dates for various patterns. If a piece has a trademark it may be able to give a date range. (Hard to tell if you bowl is marked from images here but check the center bottom hob for a mark.) Carnival finishes began use at the end of the EAPG era; so there is an overlap resulting in considerable EAPG carnival glass.

    a couple history reference:

I didn't see any markings, but I was looking on the bottom (like china marks). I never know where to look on glass so thank you for the suggestion. The bowl is about 700 miles away at the house inherited from my mother--but I will check when I return.
