    This one is a whopper at 20" tall. Very heavy. Glaze is textured with lots of burst bubbles. Bottom number is hand incised into the clay. Found in a local central IL thrift store for very little. Have had no luck in finding a maker for this. Any ideas?

    Good heavens, that's a big 'un. The incised numbers look almost chiseled in.

    It's begging for flowers with long stems, like gladiolii.

    Perhaps a florist type vase they sell with the flowers. Seems fairly rough. Nice one to really use :)

    It looks like kind of "Organic Ceramic Vase". :confused:
    /Glaze is textured with lots of burst bubbles./ Maybe there is some fiber?
    .... Plaster.... :bookworm::joyful:

    Thanks for the comments so far. I, also, am getting a garden pottery vibe to this. Heavier than most home use vases. Wonder if it was used in a comercial establishment. Not your typical vase.

    I didn't want to write about, but I also was thinking it is possible a vase for Calla flowers for funeral for church. Vase a kind of for one time to use and after finish service this vase just would be left outside with flowers. :oops:

    Not your typical one-time use florist vase but could see someplace like a funeral home keeping one or more of these for display use. Typically, one-time use vases were lined wicker, paper mache, or metal. Can't say I have seen heavy pottery ones like this.

    Probably you are right. I was thinking so, because when my Mam passed away 4 years ago (tomorrow will be 4 years), I have ordered urn from one company and they make them by order and it take several weeks to get it, from 2 to 4 weeks depend on design you will pick. We needed urn only for few day, but anyway we picked one for $800. It was beautiful urn, but we were in shock what we got! Instead of beautiful glazed ceramic urn, we got one kind made from Plaster + cement + send, not completely pained, not completely glazed and the surface was similar like this white vase and we also had a number at the bottom (number of model we picked). Of course we returned it back. But it was so stressful. So sad.

    We buried my dad's ashes in a black plastic box. He wasn't there and would have thrown a fit at spending $$$ on a fancy urn . (Depression kid - kept used nails .)

    After the problem with Urn, lately, my husband said: "I will pick my own urn and will buy it ahead. I will pick the good one fancy and expensive." And then he has added: "Take my ash to the cemetery in Arkansas, do you remember there is some pond right next to my parents? And then throw my ash to that pond." I looked him and said: "Are you crazy?! How do you think I will go alone to the cemetery with your ash? It is scary. Also I don't want to be arrested for that." He said: "Take with you my grandsons, they will be happy do it with you." :eek::D But then I have looked at him and said: "Excuse me!!! Why are you going to buy expensive urn, if we won't use it? Save the money for widow." :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

    :D:D:D:D I'm signed up to either be a medical cadaver or a corpse for the Body Farm - my old university has a Forensics major and they can always use a piece of meatware to mess with. I think they cremate the leftovers once they're done.
