These are family pieces, but I don't have any idea of the age. I recently had the seat of the rocker repaired, and the upholsterer said he found square nails used in the frame. The footstool has always been paired with the armchair, and the red velvet has been on them at least since the 1920's They are amazingly comfortable, and get almost daily use.

Based on the photos attached, does anyone have an idea of the possible age or where they may have been made?

I am curious as to what answers you receive about the rocking chair My grandparents had something just like it, maybe different arms.
I know theirs would be at least 60 years old as I rocked in it when I was a kid. And theirs had a very similar fabric.

its no wonder the swans heads look so shiny, they look soooo tactile

bet the first thing most people do when sitting in them is run their hands over the heads :), really like them frank

Col. Frank- You have inherited the full artistic flower of the Antebellum South, what a delightful trove .

I've seen similar chairs, both rockers and armchairs, but it seems to me that the newer ones don't quite have the same lines as these. I THINK these are older, but I'm hoping someone can offer some insight regarding that question.

I've seen swan chairs like these before. IIRC the originals were Victorian, and they've been redone a few times since then.
