Picked this up today at the market. I recognised the pattern as Royal Brierley (now Brierley Hill?) fuchsia as it is quite a distinctive pattern. The stopper had alarm bells ringing as it only bites a little. Not the totally snug fit you get from quality glass. I have found other examples online but different cut on the stopper. However both stopper and decanter have the number 37 engraved on them. There is one on Etsy that has a different stopper but maybe there's is a mismatch.

There is also one on the Brierley hill site with a slightly different style stopper to mine. This one is a slightly different decanter as well though

Yes indeed. You'd have thought royal brierley would have them fitting like a glove though. Maybe I expect too much.

Thanks. It saved the day. Would have been almost fruitless if it didn't show up.

While you're sweating it out at the Summer Markets, keep a sharp-eye out for the Blenko Decanters too:eek: (damn!).
Even the Ebay cheapskates pony up for those.

American items rarely make it across the Pond.
But that means more for you.;)

I'd rather have one of those Ligurian pots from that shipwreck-that's what i'd consider buying if I found a Blenko or two !
Absolutely love good modern design but the magnetism of the old and ancient (and beautiful) is strong.

I have been looking for Blenko for about 5 years, and have only come across 3 decanters during that time. I feel like I might find more if I lived in a larger city or further north, but then they would probably be out of my price range. There is not much going for the area I live in, but we still have some decent prices at some estate sales.
Just because I love Blenko, I have to share my decanter that I found this summer. $15

I don't think they made too many.

Yes I think postage is prohibitive on heavy items.

You can't blame them for being cheap. Item cost + shipping needs to be equal to or less than what they're willing to pay. With shipping through the roof, item price has to drop in order to sell the item unless you were well under in the first place.

Then again, with heavier breakables, you're taking your life in your hands shipping them these days. The USPS & others like to drop-kick glass and ceramics.
