Featured Grigsby-Grunow Radio Cabinet

    My parents bought this at an auction in the 1970s - don't know what they paid. Dad gutted it and made it into a sort of hutch in which mom could keep some of her collectibles. I brought it with me when I moved. Someone told me it was bird's-eye maple. I can't tell pine from oak. There are many on Google Lens, so not a very rare item.

    That's a beautiful piece with a lot of character—and a great story to go with it!

    Looks like walnut veneers with solids of a lesser wood, stained to match.

    Your cabinet is 1929-30. Grigsby-Grunow was a major Chicago radio manufacture . . . bankruptcy in 1933. Here is my 1932 G-G model 307. Full Gothic church design with back-lit glass panels. [​IMG]
