Can someone help identify the maker's mark on this 14 karat gold baby spoon?

I guess it is a US maker.

I've never seen a gold spoon before that wasn't gold-plated or goldtone. First time for everything.

I see a C and an M with a crown and an arrow underneath. Now I know as much as I did before as to whodunnit.

We found it. Campbell Metcalf Silver Co. Providence, Rhode Island 1892-1900.
That makes sense as my family was tied to the Metcalf family through marriage in
the 1800's. Thank you to all of you for your replies.

No size mentioned, but more likely a coffee/demitasse spoon rather than a baby spoon...

Again we crossed posts. The spoon is 4" and weighs 10.7 grams. Would that make it a coffee/demitasse spoon?

Yes. One of my favorite makers, pretty sure I have the same spoon in sterling packed away somewhere. Have seen gold flatware a few times before, even full sets, but very uncommon - with a family connection, would suspect a set of several was specially produced, perhaps split apart over the years...

Very possible it could have been split up. I ended up with a large amount of silver that I am now finding the time to look at. A lot of Gorham, Read and Barton, Watson Newell & Co, Pardon Miller, B. H. Tisdale etc. mostly from early to mid 1800's. My great great grandfather was a jewelry manufacturer in Providence, R.I. Levi L. Burdon. His company was Burdon Seamless Wire Co. In some of the Jewelry Manufactures journals we have, they state that he refined 5,000 ounces of gold per day and was the most reputable in this industry in the world. Some of the equipment he invented is still in the Providence R.I. Jewelry Museum. Thank you kindly for your help. I may need to ask some other questions in the future.

    1550... us.
    Isn't that a tad ambitious ?

Depends on the metal weight. For jewelry you usually start at 2x melt for anything decent, and these days $1500 might just be melt.

C.mon Ruth..... read the thread !!:p:playful::playful:

The spoon is 4" and weighs 10.7 grams.

for 14 K .....Canada Gold will pay $896.98 for premium items and $715.68 for melt items based on today's buy prices.
And that's only in Canadian dollars...
and it's a single spoon....... not fancy jewelry !

OK, so maybe it's ..RARE.........but so is $ 1550 USD !!!!!!!!!

I stand by my honest comments !!!;)

I honestly didn't look to see the weight, and I don't know the market for gold spoons. The formula for jewelry is 2x melt plus Design/Designer value as a start price or BIN. $1500 for a standard gold necklace at that weight would be about right. Or was as of a few years ago. Now and with tarriffs in play...you couldn't pay me to list something that price on eBoo. I'd take the scrap weight from metal dealer and dance home.
